Cost of living Question (New York vs. Texas)?

While Albany is a depressed area and certain costs of living are a bit lower than elsewhere in NYS, taxes are high. TX has no state income tax, NYS does. Property taxes are high and rising. Auto insurance rates are higher. Definitely calculate the high cost of heat! Guestimate your costs of living will about double by moving to NY.
