Do you need to have auto insurance to get a drivers license if you don't own a car?

Well, technically, yes. If your driving test involves driving your own car, you have to have proof of insurance that is up to date. I was using my sister's car at the time, and they almost didn't let me take the test because she didn't have updated information in her car, so I had to sit at the DMV for an hour or so while they gathered the information. This was in Florida, so I don't know about the other states
