Would you buy a new car or used car?

My current car has just been deemed a total loss by my insurance company. I have an insurance policy that covers me for my loss, and I am not worried about the car or the money. I am wondering if I should go and buy another brand new car, and finance the the 5-8 grande that will be needed . Or should I just go buy myself a used car?, then I won't have any car payments at all. What would you do? Buy new, or used.
